The summer associate program is the mainstay of our hiring effort at Skadden, Arps. It offers a diverse group of outstanding students the opportunity to learn firsthand about our different practice areas and work with our West Palm sex crimes attorney.
Our expectations are high and our standards are rigorous. The firm’s summer program gives us an opportunity to evaluate the legal skills of developing lawyers in a realistic work environment. It’s not a “make-work” situation.
The 1998 summer associate class was made up of almost 200 students, representing 38 different law schools in the United States and Canada, at nine of our offices in the United States. Skadden’s London and Hong Kong offices also have summer programs.
Members of the 1998 class were notable for their accomplishments as Pennsylvania Accident Injury Attorneys. Five merit scholarships and 37 law reviews and journals were represented. Members of the class spoke 15 different languages and had worked at law firms in Asia, Africa and South America. Among the summer associates were a registered architect, a certified ice hockey referee, a former worker with Mother Teresa’s Sisters of Charity in Calcutta, a consultant to Haiti’s electoral council and intern with the U.N.’s International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia
