The British tabloid newspaper the Sun is reporting that the divorce of Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren includes the largest financial settlement ever seen in a celebrity divorce:
Between $750 and $833 million.
Fort Lauderdale attorneys are saying that this is the largest divorce payout since Michael Jordan settled his divorce with ex-wife Juanita for $100 million in 2007.
The other principal condition of the settlement is reportedly an agreement that Woods will keep single women away from the couple’s children, daughter Sam, 3, and son Charlie, 1. A new woman can only be introduced into the children’s lives if Woods has married her.
For her part, Elin Nordegren must agree to:
Never speak publicly about Woods’ alleged affairs with Rachel Uchitel, reality star Jaimee Grubbs, adult film star Joslyn James or others. Apparently, if Nordegren breaks this pledge, she will lose her part of the settlement.
According to the Sun, the price of her massive monetary settlement is her silence. Some speculate that Woods does not want Nordegren to come out with a tell-all book after he has been able to rebuild his reputation.
Elin will keep the family’s main home in Windermere, Florida, plus other properties that the couple owns in Sweden. Tiger will keep a $50 million estate in Jupiter Island, as well as a $2 million apartment in Los Angeles.
Nordegren will have sole physical custody of the children, but Woods and Nordegren will have joint legal custody.
